Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Briefing
If you’ve booked an airport transfer, we’ll meet you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and drive you to the lodge. Here, you’ll meet your fellow trekkers and your lead guide, who will provide a full briefing on the climb ahead. Take some time to relax by the pool and enjoy your final night of comfort before the adventure begins!
Day 2: Trek to Mandara Hut
After breakfast, we drive to Marangu Gate (1,860 m), where you’ll be registered in Kilimanjaro National Park. The trail begins through lush rainforest, with opportunities to spot monkeys, birds, and other wildlife. After approximately 4–5 hours of hiking, you arrive at Mandara Hut (2,750 m), where you’ll spend your first night camping or in the hut.
Day 3: Ascend to Horombo Hut
The path climbs steadily through the upper rainforest and into the heath and moorland zones. Crossing streams and open landscapes, you gain altitude gradually, allowing your body to acclimatize. After about 5–6 hours of trekking, you reach Horombo Hut (3,720 m), nestled in the alpine desert. From here, the views of Kibo and Mawenzi Peaks are truly spectacular.
Day 4: Acclimatization Day at Horombo
Today is a rest and acclimatization day. Optional short hikes up nearby ridges or around the plateau help your body adjust to the altitude while providing breathtaking panoramic views. You’ll enjoy the crisp high-altitude air and the dramatic alpine desert landscapes, preparing for the final summit push.
Day 5: Summit Day – Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak
You’ll rise around midnight for the summit attempt. Trekking through the alpine desert under the stars, you reach Kibo Hut (4,700 m) before continuing up the steep path toward Stella Point on the crater rim. Sunrise from Stella Point is unforgettable. From there, it’s a short hike to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa! After celebrating at the top, you begin the long descent back to Horombo Hut (3,720 m).
Day 6: Descend to Marangu Gate
Today, you complete the trek with a 4–5 hour descent back to Marangu Gate (1,860 m). Passing through rainforest once again, the fresh air and gentle downhill trail make the final stretch pleasant and reflective. At the gate, you’ll celebrate your achievement with certificates before transferring back to your lodge for showers, meals, and well-earned rest.
Day 9: Departure Day
Departure Day
After breakfast at the lodge, we’ll transfer you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home, or onward to Zanzibar or a safari adventure, depending on your plans.
