Tarangire National Park

THE ENDLESS PLAINS

Tarangire National Park

Serengeti National Park, a sprawling expanse of over 14,763 square kilometers, is a globally acclaimed UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Tanzania’s crown jewels. Famous for its unmatched biodiversity, the park hosts an incredible array of wildlife, including the Big Five and the iconic Great Migration of over two million wildebeests and zebras. Serengeti has received numerous awards and global recognition for its breathtaking landscapes and conservation efforts, making it a top destination for nature lovers and safari enthusiasts worldwide.

When to Visit Serengeti

The best time to visit Tarangire National Park largely depends on your preferences for wildlife viewing and scenery. The dry season, from June to October, is the most popular time for a safari. During this period, wildlife concentrates around the Tarangire River, the park’s primary water source, creating excellent opportunities to see large herds of elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and predators such as lions and leopards. The dry landscape also makes animals easier to spot.

For bird enthusiasts and those seeking a lush, vibrant environment, the wet season, from November to May, is ideal. The park comes alive with greenery, and migratory birds flock to the area, offering incredible birdwatching opportunities. This is also the calving season for many herbivores, which attracts predators and provides fascinating predator-prey interactions.

While the wet season may bring occasional rainfall, it also means fewer tourists, making for a quieter and more intimate safari experience. Both seasons showcase the park’s beauty and diversity, ensuring a memorable visit.
