Tour Overview

The 6-Day Rongai Route is the only Kilimanjaro route that approaches the mountain from the northern side near the Kenyan border. Known for its gentle ascent profile, remote wilderness, and lower rainfall levels, the Rongai Route is an excellent option for climbers seeking a quieter and less crowded trekking experience.
The route passes through beautiful pine forests, heath and moorland, alpine desert, and the arctic summit zone before reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. Due to its gradual ascent and relatively low traffic, the Rongai Route offers good acclimatization and a high summit success rate compared to many shorter routes.
Unlike the southern routes, Rongai provides unique views of the Kenyan plains and the rugged northern side of Kilimanjaro. The descent follows the Marangu Route, allowing climbers to experience two different sides of the mountain during the trek.
Perfect for trekkers seeking a scenic, quieter, and moderately challenging climb to the Roof of Africa.
