8-Day Northern Circuit Route Itinerary
Day 0: Arrival in Tanzania
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be warmly welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Moshi. In the evening, meet your professional mountain guide for a comprehensive climb briefing, equipment inspection, and final preparations for your Kilimanjaro adventure. This is an excellent opportunity to ask questions, ensure all gear is ready, and get a good night's rest before the trek begins.

Day 1: Hotel – Londorossi Gate – Mti Mkubwa Camp
After breakfast, depart Moshi and drive to Londorossi Gate for registration and permit formalities. From the gate, continue by 4WD vehicle through the lush rainforest to the Lemosho trailhead. Your trek begins with a gentle walk through the dense montane forest, home to a variety of wildlife, colorful birds, and colobus monkeys. Arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp (Big Tree Camp), where you will enjoy your first night on the mountain.
Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp
Today's trek gradually leaves the rainforest behind and enters the heath and moorland zone. As the vegetation becomes more sparse, stunning views of Kibo Peak begin to emerge. Crossing several ridges and valleys, you'll eventually reach the edge of the vast Shira Plateau.
Arrive at Shira 1 Camp, situated on the western edge of the plateau with spectacular views of the surrounding landscape.
Day 3: Shira 1 Camp to Moir Hut
Cross the Shira Plateau while enjoying breathtaking views across the mountain. The trail gradually ascends toward Moir Hut, located beneath the Lent Hills on the northern side of Kilimanjaro.
This camp provides an excellent opportunity for acclimatization hikes in the surrounding area.
Day 4: Moir Hut to Buffalo Camp
Today's trek follows the remote northern slopes of Kilimanjaro. Enjoy magnificent views of the Kenyan plains and the vast wilderness surrounding the mountain.
The trail traverses rolling ridges and valleys before arriving at Buffalo Camp, one of the most secluded camps on Kilimanjaro.
Day 5: Buffalo Camp to Third Cave Camp
Continue your journey across the northern circuit, passing through remote alpine terrain with exceptional panoramic views. The gradual profile allows for excellent acclimatization while conserving energy for summit day.
Arrive at Third Cave Camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Third Cave Camp to School Hut Camp
Ascend steadily toward School Hut Camp, the final base camp before the summit attempt. Along the way, enjoy spectacular views of Kibo Peak and the surrounding volcanic landscape.
After arriving at camp, enjoy an early dinner and rest while preparing for the midnight summit ascent.
Day 7: School Hut Camp – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp
Around midnight, begin the final ascent toward Gilman's Point on the crater rim. Continue along the rim toward Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa.
Witness an unforgettable sunrise over the glaciers and celebrate your incredible achievement at the Roof of Africa.
After spending time at the summit, descend to School Hut for a brief rest before continuing down to Mweka Camp for your final night on the mountain.
Day 8: Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Moshi
After breakfast, enjoy your final descent through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate. Upon arrival, receive your well-earned summit certificate and celebrate your achievement with your mountain crew.
Your driver will be waiting at Mweka Gate to transfer you back to your hotel in Moshi, where a hot shower and comfortable bed await.
Departure Day
After breakfast, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight. Alternatively, continue your Tanzanian adventure with a wildlife safari or a relaxing beach holiday in Zanzibar.
